10,000 rhododendron bushes, including rhododendron kaempferi and rhododendron pulchrum, bear brightly colored blooms in Takenokoba Park, part of the Genkai Quasi-National Park. The Rhododendron Festival is held on May 5 (public holiday), attracting many visitors to the karaoke contest and a local specialty market.
