Known as Mount Furo after a legend that Xu Fu—sent by Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor of China—climbed the mountain in the 3rd century BC in search of an elixir of immortality. Today, the area has been developed as Furosan General Park. Cherry blossoms blanket the slopes in March, followed by azaleas in April, covering the mountain in shades of pink. From the summit, visitors can enjoy a sweeping 360-degree panorama of the deep-blue Imari Bay and the lush mountain ranges surrounding Matsuura, drawing large crowds. The children’s area features large playground equipment and water play, giving kids plenty of space to enjoy themselves. The park is scheduled to reopen at the end of March 2026.
