The two-day festival is held to honor the Matsuura Suigun (marine forces), which protected their hometown from the Yuan force's attack. The procession of warriors associated with the marine forces and the parade of festival floats, recreating the ships from the Matsuura force's time, are full of historical atmosphere. Other highlights include a dance by the citizens, a free seafood hotpot, and an exhibition and sale of local products such as seafood and processed foods.
